Capone is a 3-year-old, 51-pound pit mix who is described as a "certified velcro dog" because he loves to be close to his people. He originally came from Texas and is now looking for a home where he can finally settle in and be someone's loyal right-hand man. Capone is happiest when he's cuddled up close, in your lap, or directly in your face, asking for attention. He loves walks, toys, splashing around in kiddie pools, and will never turn down quality cuddle time. In a home environment, Capone has great manners, is house-trained with no indoor accidents (though he may occasionally excited-piddle when he's extra happy to be let out of his crate), and is very receptive to guidance and boundaries. He already understands things like staying off counters and enjoys learning from his people. He's playful and enjoys roughhousing with other dogs, but underneath all that enthusiasm is a very submissive boy who takes corrections well from canine friends. Capone may share a name with one of history's most famous mob bosses, but the only thing criminal about him is how quickly he'll steal your couch space and your heart. With patience, structure, and plenty of love, this goofy, water-loving cuddle bug is ready to become someone's loyal partner in crime.
Ideal Home
Capone will need an active, dog-savvy family willing to work through some of his quirks. He's strong on leash, athletic enough to clear impressive heights, and would do best with a confident handler and a secure fence (6 feet preferred). Due to his prey drive, he's looking for a cat-free home and would likely do best without small animals. Older kids are recommended because he can be jumpy and mouthy when excited – all in fun, never aggression. He'd also do best in a home without shared walls, as he can be vocal.

Training & Support
Capone is working on potty training and may occasionally excited-piddle. He can be reactive in a shelter setting and gets overstimulated during introductions, so slow, calm meet-and-greets work best, ideally off-leash in a neutral environment. He is strong on leash. He is crate-trained, though he would much rather be with his people.
