Aranza

Aranza is a charming 4-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing around 14 lbs, who is looking for a loving family to call her own. She was rescued in November 2023 in Matamoros, Mexico, after being found wandering alone. Initially suffering from scabies and underweight, Aranza has made a fantastic recovery thanks to dedicated veterinary care, good nutrition, and the love of her foster home. Now, she's a happy, healthy, and affectionate girl with a gentle and sweet personality. Aranza adores cuddling and snuggling with her people, forming strong bonds and cherishing close relationships. She's also great with children and friendly towards other dogs, making her a versatile addition to many households. Walks and car rides are enjoyed with calm enthusiasm. After all she's been through, Aranza deserves a home filled with the safety, love, and stability she's always dreamed of. In return, she promises to fill your life with loyalty, affection, and wonderful companionship.

Ideal Home

Aranza would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She's looking for a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, possessing an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued street animals, and a willingness to provide protection and education. Previous experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a commitment to hiring a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach her full potential. Patience and high tolerance are essential for understanding her need for protection and education.

Ongoing Health

Aranza has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. She is microchipped, tested negative for heartworm with a certificate, and received a 4DX test and certificate. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She also has a health certificate and a vaccination booklet. Potential adopters should be aware that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and may not be fully house-trained.

Training & Support

It's important to understand that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt to new environments and people. Patience and understanding are crucial for building trust and strengthening your bond. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and setting clear boundaries will help Aranza feel secure. As with many rescued animals, Aranza is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared to work on this with patience and consistency.

Transportation

Aranza is currently fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to her new home. Door-to-door delivery is available through scheduled trips, with 3-4 trips per year planned for a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. A contracted transport company from Montana collects adopted pets in Mexico and escorts them across the border into Texas for US adoptions. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates on the pet's journey, including feeding, walking, and crate cleaning schedules, along with estimated times of arrival. A transport fee of $400 USD covers the journey from Mexico to your doorstep.
