Drake

Drake is a handsome 1.5-year-old yellow lab with a gentle soul. He endured a difficult past, but he's now on the other side, seeking a patient and loving forever home where he can learn to feel safe and build trust at his own pace. Drake was rescued from a neglectful hoarding situation with many other labs. They lacked proper vet care, socialization, and a normal life. Unfortunately, the environment led to some dogs fighting to survive, and Drake, being timid and submissive, struggled. He arrived with an infected leg wound that has been treated and thankfully saved, though facial and body scars are still healing. Drake is slowly but surely building his confidence and making progress every day!

Ideal Home

Drake would thrive in a home that understands his need for a slow pace and offers plenty of patience and love. A home with at least one other resident dog is required to aid in his recovery and continued socialization. A secure 6-foot fence is necessary as he is not yet comfortable with a leash.

Ongoing Health

Drake is recovering from an infected leg wound that has been treated and saved. He also has healing facial and body scars. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested, and on preventatives.

Training & Support

Drake is crate trained and potty trained and lets his foster family know when he needs to go outside. While he may not approach you for affection initially, he allows pets and enjoyingsittings beside him. He loves his food and has discovered a favorite type of bone. He is not yet comfortable with a leash, and continued positive reinforcement will be needed if leash walking is desired in the future.
