About Goose

Meet Goose: proof that personality can absolutely carry a team project.

Goose is a 1.5-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei mix weighing approximately 38 pounds, and he is guaranteed to make an impression. He has the kind of face that only a mother could love... although, if we're being honest, our staff is still somewhat divided on that topic. Fortunately, Goose realized early on that his looks might not be doing all the heavy lifting, so he developed an absolutely stellar personality instead.

Before arriving in our program, Goose was facing an uncertain future. He was suffering from advanced entropion in both eyes, a painful condition where the eyelids roll inward and the eyelashes continuously rub against the eye. Based on the condition of his eyes, we believe he had been living with this discomfort for a very long time. Because of his medical needs, Goose's chances of leaving the shelter environment were slim until he found his way to us. Once here, he received the surgery he desperately needed, giving him a fresh view of the world – literally. While he still has some residual scarring from his rough start, his vision is intact, he requires no additional medical care, and he's been making up for lost time ever since.

And wow, does this guy embrace life. Goose is smart, agile, house-trained, great on leash, and knows his basic commands. He believes every living creature exists solely to become his best friend. Young kids? Friends. Seniors? Friends. Dogs? Friends. Strangers walking by? Obviously friends. There is absolutely no stranger danger with Goose. If you're searching for a guard dog, you can stop reading now. Goose's rarely heard bark sounds remarkably like a door hinge begging for a healthy dose of WD-40. Should an intruder arrive, he would likely greet them enthusiastically and offer a full tour of the house. His permanently surprised expression somehow manages to melt hearts everywhere he goes. He's a gentle soul who wiggles his entire backside when he's happy – which is often – and he is more than ready to find a family of his own. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a great sense of humor, a heart of gold, and a face you'll never forget, Goose may be your perfect match.
