Meet Darrell!
Darrell is a handsome, approximately one-year-old dog who looks like he's straight out of a cartoon! With his short legs, speckled paws, expressive eyebrows, and a permanent grin, he's sure to bring a smile to your face. While he might seem like a tough guy at first, Darrell is actually a loyal little security guard who adores his people. Once he decides you're one of his trusted humans, he becomes a total cuddle bug who loves lap time and car rides. He also appreciates a good routine and is happy to relax in his crate, which he sees as his cozy bedroom.
Ideal Home
Darrell would thrive in a quieter household with older children or adults who understand and respect his need for personal space and time to build trust. He would prefer a home without apartments, as he can be a bit vocal when he has opinions. He currently lives with dogs and cats and does well with them, as long as they respect his boundaries.
Ongoing Health
Darrell has a history of occasional seizures, which have been rare and have not impacted his happy and adventurous spirit. Adopters should be comfortable monitoring his health with a veterinarian, though he continues to enjoy a fantastic quality of life.
Training & Support
Darrell is not a fan of strangers getting in his face or handling him before trust is established. He can be mouthy when uncomfortable and may snap or bite if his boundaries are ignored. It's crucial for adopters to understand dog body language and be patient in building a relationship with him. He thrives on routine and predictability.
