Meet Irene! This sweet girl came to us with a skin condition called non-epidermolytic ichthyosis. This means she has dry, flaky skin that requires consistent moisturizing treatments like special shampoos and supplements. While there's no cure, it's very manageable with a loving family who understands her needs. Irene is absolutely worth the extra care – she's a gem! She currently lives happily with both cats and dogs of all sizes, though she does best with slow introductions and a little decompression time. Once she's comfortable, her wonderful personality truly shines! She'd be a fantastic companion for an active family ready to continue her training and help her polish her manners. We'd be thrilled to see her in a foster-to-adopt situation to help her adjust smoothly.
Ideal Home
A family who understands her skin condition and is committed to her ongoing care. She enjoys the company of other pets, including cats and both small and large dogs, but benefits from slow introductions.
Ongoing Health
Irene has been diagnosed with non-epidermolytic ichthyosis, a genetic skin condition causing dry, flaky skin. She requires regular topical treatments, including moisturizing shampoos, emollients, and essential fatty acid supplements to manage her skin barrier and ensure her comfort.
Training & Support
Irene can sometimes be misunderstood due to her excitement. She would benefit from continued training and support in developing her manners, especially with a family that can help her navigate new introductions.
