Athena, 1 year old (estimated DOB May 2025), is a sweet, affectionate, and playful Terrier mix who currently weighs 35 pounds. She and her five siblings were found abandoned in the woods, and thankfully, a kind person reached out for help. Athena has shown a lot of growth and maturity, but she is still a lively young dog who needs a home prepared to meet her energy and enrichment needs. She loves playing with other dogs, is curious, and full of personality – zoomies are definitely included! Athena is still working through some puppy behaviors, like chewing, but with consistent guidance and appropriate chew toys, she's learning and maturing beautifully. She is already learning important commands like sit, down, drop it, and come, and with positive reinforcement, she will continue to thrive.
Ideal Home
Athena would thrive in an active home that can provide daily physical exercise and mental enrichment, appropriate chew toys, continued training and structure, social interaction, and companionship. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, a home without cats may be ideal, though a cat-savvy home with slow introductions and clear boundaries might also work.

Athena is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Athena is currently learning her basic commands and is eager to continue her training journey. She needs ongoing positive reinforcement, structure, and socialization to help her mature. She is still in a chewing phase and will benefit from plenty of appropriate chew toys.

- Once completing the initial screen, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat.
- Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
- If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
- Our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
Transporation
Athena is currently in San Antonio, Texas and can be transported once matched to an adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
