About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing 7 lbs, with an estimated adult weight of 20 lbs. She's affectionate, loving, and thrives on exploration and meeting new people and dogs. Annie is a social butterfly who would be the perfect pup for an active family that enjoys including their furry friend in everyday life. Her adaptable and laid-back demeanor makes her an ideal companion for various adventures and environments. Whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or entertaining herself, Annie is always happy as long as she's with her humans. She has a perfect balance of playful energy and a cuddly nature, happy to run and play or relax on the couch. Annie is also great at entertaining herself with toys when her humans are busy.

Ideal Home

Annie would love an active family that enjoys walks, outdoor exploration, and including her in daily activities. She'd also be happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home with plenty of snuggles. A fenced yard for playtime and exercise is ideal. She would thrive with another playful, friendly dog and children to play with, but would also be content as the "only child" with plenty of human attention. She would prefer not to go to public dog parks due to potential health risks and negative interactions. Annie would love adventures like outings around town or visits to Sniff Spots. Ideally, her human works from home or has a hybrid schedule. If her humans work out of the home, a dog sitter or doggy daycare is recommended, as she cannot go more than 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Any necessary veterinary care while in the rescue's care has been provided. She is starting to teethe, so her new family will need to provide her with appropriate chew toys to prevent her from chewing on household items.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel and potty trained and has started leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night without issue and naps in it during the day with the door open. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy doorbell to help her learn to signal when she needs to go out. She will need a consistent schedule and frequent potty breaks initially in her new environment, but she adjusts quickly. She would benefit from continued leash walking practice. If she is the only dog in the home, she would benefit from frequent playdates with other dogs or attending doggy daycare a couple of times a week to ensure continued positive social interactions. She has learned proper doggy communication skills and respects the boundaries of older dogs but might be too much for a senior dog unaccustomed to puppy energy. Due to her wiggly nature when excited and picked up, it's recommended for children to be experienced with smaller breeds and know how to handle her carefully to avoid accidental drops.
