Lilly is a 4-year-old, spayed Australian Shepherd who has made INCREDIBLE progress during her time in foster care — and she is so ready for her forever home! For nearly six months, Lilly has been fostered in New Kent, Virginia by a professional dog trainer. The transformation has been amazing. This girl has put in the work!
Lilly is every bit the herding pup who LOVES what's hers — especially her people. She is full of energy, extremely smart, eager to please, and deeply bonded to her person. She would absolutely thrive with a job — whether that's farm chores, hiking adventures, agility, scent work, or simply being your constant sidekick. Neighborhood leash walks? Not really her vibe. Wide open spaces and purposeful activity? YES please.
Ideal Home
Lilly needs an experienced Aussie or herding-breed adopter who understands she may be suspicious/reactive until properly introduced. She thrives in a structured environment with mental and physical outlets and would do best with older children only, as she can be obsessive/possessive with babies and toddlers. A farm or rural property would be a dream, but she also wants to be an indoor companion who lays at your feet and rolls over for belly rubs.
Ongoing Health
Lilly is a spayed Australian Shepherd.
Training & Support
Lilly listens incredibly well and knows commands like “Leave it,” redirection cues, and has a solid recall. She is spectacular off-leash and loves to explore but never strays far from her person. She is fully house-trained and loves her kennel as her safe space. Lilly loves certain dogs (no doodles, please!) and is particular when meeting new ones, requiring a proper meet-and-greet with any potential dog sibling. She would do well with a younger, playful dog and listens beautifully to direction during introductions. Cats are generally ignored until they run, at which point her herding brain kicks in and she wants to chase. She has also been around chickens and goats and does well with supervision and clear direction.
