About Pippin

Pippin is a sweet senior gentleman, approximately 9 years old and weighing about 60 lbs. He's a handsome mix, with Labrador Retriever and Husky being our best guess! Pippin is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He came to us when his previous owners were no longer able to manage his escape artistry. We believe he was left outdoors for extended periods, as he hasn't attempted to escape once in his foster home. Pippin is a true foodie and will do anything for a treat – he's incredibly clever at finding ways to access food, so secure storage is a must! He's desperately looking for a loving home to spend his golden years.

Ideal Home

Pippin would do best in a single-family home with a fenced yard where he can safely enjoy his time outdoors. Due to his previous escape attempts, a securely fenced yard is important, although his foster mom notes he hasn't tried to escape with her. He is not suitable for a home with children, as he is likely to barrel through them, and we want to avoid any tears.

Ongoing Health

Pippin is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is microchipped. He is a senior dog, and while no specific health conditions are mentioned, senior pets often benefit from regular vet check-ups.

Training & Support

Pippin is crate trained and can be enticed into his crate easily with a treat. He is also potty trained. However, his leash manners need significant work, as he pulls very strongly and hasn't realized he's a senior! It's recommended to stick to yard time unless absolutely necessary. Pippin has some unique challenges when it comes to food. He is fine with cats and largely ignores them, but their food must be kept inaccessible to him. He's also great with other dogs until food is involved; he becomes obsessed with any dropped treats or crumbs, making him best suited as the only dog in the household. Because of his food motivation, all food must be stored securely and out of his reach.
