Meet Hatchi!
This majestic 90-pound young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix is a bundle of energy with a heart of gold. Hatchi is a loving soul who's still getting used to seeing the world with just one working eye due to stabilized glaucoma. While he may miss some visual cues, especially sudden movements, he's a resilient pup with a strong desire to connect. He's a wonderfully snuggly companion who melts into affection and is eager to please, especially when tasty treats are involved! Hatchi is already crate trained and house-trained, and he's lived harmoniously with children aged 7 and 8. He has a lot of love to give and is looking for a patient and understanding family to share his life with.
Ideal Home
Hatchi would thrive in a home with an experienced caregiver who can provide him with confidence and security. Due to his visual impairment and reactivity to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars, he needs a confident handler comfortable with large breeds and positive reinforcement training methods. A fenced yard is essential for his safety and to satisfy his Husky instincts and curiosity. He may do well with a calm, female dog, but he is not compatible with cats.
Ongoing Health
Hatchi has stabilized glaucoma in one eye and will require daily eye drops for the rest of his life. Thankfully, his love for treats makes administering his medication quite manageable. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Hatchi is strong on leash and can be reactive to his surroundings. He benefits greatly from positive reinforcement and patient training to help him feel secure and build his confidence. He responds well to his name and is eager to please, especially with the promise of treats!
