Shawnee is proof that sometimes the quietest dogs have the biggest hearts. Around 6 years old and weighing in at 30 pounds, Shawnee is looking for a home where she can finally exhale. Before coming to us, Shawnee was abandoned in an apartment and was facing a grim future at a Houston shelter. Fortunately, a wonderful foster stepped up at the last moment, giving her a second chance at life.

Shawnee is naturally shy and needs a little time to warm up to new people. She'll thrive with someone who understands that building trust takes time, and that patience, kindness, and tasty treats go a long way. Once she feels secure, you'll discover the sweet, loving girl that's been waiting patiently, and it's truly worth the wait.

Shawnee would do best in a home where her gentle nature can be nurtured. She is being fostered with other dogs and does wonderfully with them.

Shawnee is house-trained and crate-trained. She can be a bit vocal and isn't afraid to express herself, but she's more bark than bite and simply appreciates her space being respected. This can be quite funny once you get to know her, as she wouldn't hurt a fly.
