About Machika
Machika is a sweet Akita mix, about 2–3 years old and weighing 53 lbs. She’s calm, loving, and truly enjoys the simple joys of life—walks on a leash, relaxing car rides as the perfect co-pilot, and running freely in the garden with her doggy friends. She can be a little selective with other dogs and does best in a cat-free home, but she’s always eager to share her gentle nature with people. Machika’s past was not easy—she spent much of her life on the streets, facing cold nights and even abuse. Thanks to kind neighbors, she began receiving food and care, and eventually, she was rescued. Despite everything she endured, Machika blossomed into a trusting, affectionate dog who longs for human companionship. She was once abandoned, but what Machika truly deserves is much more: a real home, filled with love and security, where she’ll never again feel loneliness or fear. Machika is ready to be the loyal, loving companion you’ve been searching for.
It's essential to recognize that our dogs may have experienced trauma before arriving with us. As a result, they may require an adjustment period in a foster or permanent home. Patience and understanding are absolutely crucial when dealing with rescued dogs. Rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences, and they need time to adapt to new environments and people. Patience and understanding can help build trust and strengthen the bond between the dog and their new owner. By understanding and supporting our rescued dogs, we can help them overcome their past and find a loving home where they can thrive. Please note that many of our rescue dogs are not house-trained.

Many of our rescue dogs are not house-trained. We invest time, money, and effort into their rehabilitation, but it is impossible to house-train every pet in foster care. Potential adopters should be prepared to provide ongoing training and support.
Application Details:
- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- Fill out our adoption form.
- Send photos/videos of your home to ensure your future furry friend will be safe.
- If it’s a match, we’ll call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and take a virtual home tour.
- We’ll speak with 1–2 of your references.
- If approved, you’ll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, food, and more.
Transportation
Machika is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip if adopted. We offer door-to-door delivery with scheduled trips 3-4 times per year. Our contracted transport company picks up pets in Mexico and brings them across the border. A transport fee of $400 USD covers the cost from Mexico to your home. You will receive real-time updates throughout the journey.
