Meet Grits!
This handsome snow-white boy is as sweet as they come! Grits is an approximately 8–9-month-old pittie mix who was found wandering near a grocery store. Thankfully, he was rescued and is now safe, vetted, and enjoying life in a foster home. He quickly became a staff favorite during his boarding stay, loving his daily playgroups and showing everyone what a happy, social pup he is. Now in foster care with two resident dogs, Grits has been soaking up new experiences, joining his foster family on walks, to pet-friendly stores, and even to a local nature preserve. Everywhere he goes, he's curious, friendly, and eager to explore!
Grits has a medium energy level and a wonderful balance of playful puppy energy and an easygoing personality. He's a confident boy who enjoys exploring the yard and sniffing interesting scents before happily returning for pets or settling beside you. He loves his daily walks and, while he may start out excited, he settles in quickly and his leash manners are improving with practice.
He's doing great with his training and is already potty trained and crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night without accidents. He willingly goes into his crate when his foster family is away and is learning basic commands like "sit," "wait," and "off." He's food-motivated, learns quickly, and genuinely enjoys working with his people. His favorite game is chasing tennis balls, and he's currently mastering "bring it" and "drop it."
Grits is a very social dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and has participated in large playgroups, where he played appropriately and had a blast. He's also gentle with children and enjoys their attention. Like any young pup, he can get excited and occasionally jump up, but he's responding well to training and is eager to please.
If you're looking for a young dog who's affectionate, adventurous, dog-friendly, and ready to continue learning alongside his forever family, Grits may be the perfect addition to your home. He has all the ingredients to become an incredible lifelong companion; all he needs now is a family to call his own.
