Chido

Meet Chido, a charming American Bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give! This handsome fellow is nearly 4 years old and weighs a healthy 63 lbs. Despite a rough start on the streets of Houston, Chido's gentle nature shines through, especially his love for cats. He's a social butterfly, making friends easily with both people and animals. Chido enjoys short walks, playtime with his toys, and plenty of naps. He's known to be good with children and most dogs, though he is dog selective and prefers calm introductions without being overwhelmed.

Ideal Home

Chido would thrive in a home where he can be an indoor companion, not an outdoor dog. He needs a patient household with someone who works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety and would love a relaxed companion to chill with.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on a slow-kill medication (Heartguard), which is a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually for heartworms. He also experiences occasional hip arthritis, which can make it difficult for him to move initially. This has only occurred twice since he's been in foster care and typically resolves with a gentle hip massage and rest. X-rays show inflammation but no broken bones. Aside from these conditions, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. He can be frightened by loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks, and will need comforting during these times. Knowing you're by his side will help him calm down quickly.
