Rusty is a 1.8-year-old Aussie/Cattle dog mix who came to us from our partner in Texas, Saving Shelter Strays. She was found wandering down a street with no houses nearby, and sadly, no one came to claim her. Rusty is a bright, beautiful, and loving pup who is incredibly smart and curious. Her favorite place is the outdoors, and even when tired, she'd prefer to nap in the yard. However, she's perfectly happy to be inside when it's raining. Rusty can be a bit shy when she's outside of her familiar foster home and yard, but she's made wonderful progress, especially after discovering pet stores that offer her delicious treats! She absolutely adores other dogs and loves to play with her foster siblings. Rusty is a quick learner and can get bored easily, so she often looks to her foster brothers to learn what she should be doing.
Ideal Home
Rusty would thrive in a home with a fenced yard for her to explore and relax in. She'd also benefit from having a canine companion and a family experienced with her breed and with shy dogs, who can help her continue to build confidence. Apartments are not suitable for Rusty at this time.
Ongoing Health
Rusty is up-to-date on core vaccinations per AVMA standards and has been heartworm tested. She has been spayed and microchipped with registration.
Training & Support
Rusty is still working on building her confidence outside of her comfort zone. She is a very smart dog and learns quickly, so continued positive reinforcement and gentle guidance will help her flourish.
