Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a difficult start in life. Rescued from a situation of abuse and neglect, she weighed just 18 lbs at six months old and it took months to learn that gentle hands meant love. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will give her the safety and devotion she deserves. She is outgoing, smart, and affectionate, loving car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. While she may be shy at first when meeting strangers, she warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience, blossoming into a loving, loyal companion who greets every day with joy and trust.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She does not need another dog in the home to be happy and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion. She thrives in a calm environment where she can unwind, especially during mealtime.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained. She eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe due to past food insecurity. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating, but she has never shown guarding toward people. She has an enthusiastic, playful personality and loves to romp around with other dogs once comfortable, though she can be a bit bossy during play and benefits from slow introductions. She does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm. She just needs time to trust and understand that she's safe.
