Meet Gracie Mae!
This charming five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix has a gentle spirit and a warm, golden coat that brings companionship wherever she goes. Gracie Mae is a medium-sized girl, weighing about 40 pounds, and she carries the classic curiosity and musical heart of her hound heritage. She enjoys structure and routine, which help her feel confident and relaxed. Stuffy toys and sturdy Benebones are treasures in her world, and a lively game of fetch can instantly bring out her playful side! When playtime winds down, Gracie Mae happily leans in for affectionate snuggles and is especially known for cuddling close to a person's face as if sharing a quiet secret.
Gracie Mae has grown up in a busy household with children, including a neurodivergent child, and she has handled the extra activity and movement with patience and calm. She is comfortable around kids and often enjoys being part of the lively rhythm of family life. Her friendly and steady nature helps her adjust well to the everyday sounds and energy that come with a home full of people.
Ideal Home
Gracie Mae would thrive in a caring environment where someone is home much of the time to keep her engaged with play, walks, and connection. While she has lived successfully with another dog and is generally comfortable around people, her experience with cats is limited. Her hound instincts may encourage her to chase small animals during walks, so thoughtful introductions and attentive guidance will be important.
Ongoing Health
Gracie Mae's vaccinations are up to date, she is spayed, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Gracie Mae has learned commands like "sit" and responds well to patient guidance and positive reinforcement. She is crate-trained and can rest calmly during a workday. She has learned to go potty outside and understands the "go potty" command, but she is also accustomed to using pee pads indoors. Outdoor sounds and distractions can sometimes make her feel uncertain, and she does not currently signal when she needs to go outside, so she often prefers using pee pads where she feels more relaxed. With patience and consistency, this routine can continue to improve. She sometimes feels unsure about delivery drivers or unfamiliar visitors and benefits from gentle introductions.
