Raquel is an eleven-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix who came to us from a large hoarding situation. While she was fed and kept clean, she didn't get the socialization a young dog needs. Raquel is a big girl with an even bigger heart. She's incredibly sweet but still a little unsure of the world. She yearns for connection and trust, and it's clear she's trying her best. New experiences can be overwhelming for her initially, so she needs a little time to adjust and settle in.
The good news is that Raquel is making great progress and is moving past her initial shyness. She's not as confident as some of the other dogs from her situation, but she gains more confidence every day. With the right family, she'll continue to blossom. Because she didn't grow up in a typical home environment, she's still learning about indoor living, leash walking, and everyday household activities. She's not a difficult dog, just inexperienced and a bit uncertain. Patience, routine, and consistency will be key to her success.
Ideal Home
A home prepared for a large dog, likely over 100 pounds when fully grown, is essential. A securely fenced yard is a must. Raquel is good with other dogs and cats. Due to her tendency to startle easily and her ongoing confidence-building journey, we recommend a home with children over the age of 10.
