Maxwell

Maxwell is a handsome 6-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who joined our rescue 5 years ago. He came to us when his previous family, who lived in an apartment with multiple people and animals, could no longer care for him. Maxwell has a beautiful medium-length coat and weighs around 85 lbs. He's been with us for a while and has truly blossomed into a wonderfully tempered dog.

Ideal Home

Maxwell would do best with a family with older children. He is not a good fit for homes with cats due to his prey drive.

Ongoing Health

Maxwell experiences seizures, which are well-managed with Phenobarbital and Kepra medication. Storms, even distant ones, seem to be a trigger for his seizures. The monthly cost for his medication is approximately $80. He eats twice daily, and his medication is given with each meal. He was recently neutered, is up-to-date on his vaccines, and had recent bloodwork.

Training & Support

Maxwell walks nicely on a harness lead and is well-behaved at the vet. He is not vocal and rarely barks unless he needs something. He thrives on a diet that includes grain. His food intake has been adjusted, and treats have been removed to help him manage his weight.
