Hello future family! My name is Pepper, and my foster mom sometimes calls me Little Miss Peps. I’m a timid but curious and happy young lady who came all the way from New Mexico after being found on a walkabout! My foster mom says I’m super trainable and I just know that when she asks for things, if I do it, I get a super yummy treat! I love being outside, especially in the snow, and have found that cuddling with my foster mom is the best activity ever! Sometimes I think she's a mountain I get to climb up and around. I’ve met kids of many ages and love them because they have so much energy. Mostly, I like to cuddle up with the other dogs or my foster mom. I’m really smart, so I am looking forward to learning how to be a really good girl for you!
Ideal Home
Pepper is an introvert and big adoption events take a lot out of her. She is more timid at first, but with a gentle approach and tasty treats, she will warm up. She does best when not approached too quickly, but once she trusts you, she'll be happy to dance around with you!
Ongoing Health
Pepper arrived a bit scared of everything, but she has been working hard on building her confidence. She had some puppy challenges upon arrival but has overcome them with dedicated care.
Training & Support
Pepper is learning to be a good girl! She is working on kennel training, sleeping well through the night, and letting her foster mom know when she needs to go potty outside. She has also learned to ring a bell to get the back door open. She's working on basic obedience, including "sit" and "down," name recognition, and recall, which she's doing great with! She's also learning impulse control, like taking treats nicely and not nipping. With her foster mom, a professional dog trainer, she's practicing "wait," "leave it," and "stay." She also loves the agility equipment in the yard, especially the dog walk, A-frame, and hurdles! She enjoys playing tug with the resident dogs, and loves squeaky and crinkly toys. She is learning "leave it" when it comes to things like branches outside.
