A little about them
Bashir is a 2-year-old red American Cocker Spaniel with a lean, athletic build, a warm personality, and plenty of curiosity. He weighs 30 pounds and is an active, playful companion who enjoys toys, outdoor exploration, and cozy evenings with his people.
Bashir came from a puppy mill and has made wonderful progress in foster care. He is house trained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and comfortable riding in a crate. He is friendly with cats and dogs and would do best with a confident, easy-going female dog, though he could also be the only dog in the home.
Bashir is still building confidence with new people, busy environments, leash walking, and arriving at new destinations after car rides. He may bark or howl at outside noises and would be happiest in a detached home rather than an apartment or condo. He thrives with patience, encouragement, gentle socialization, consistent training, and a stable routine.
Ideal Home
Bashir would thrive with an active family able to provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, and continued confidence-building. A home with older or teenage children is preferred. Prior Cocker Spaniel experience would be helpful.
His family should be prepared to:
- Continue leash training and socialization.
- Share his care and maintenance equally among household members.
- Use consistent crate training to support his independence and self-soothing skills.
- Provide separate feeding areas if he lives with other dogs.
- Offer a predictable routine and plenty of positive encouragement.
Training & Support
Bashir is learning quickly and has mastered stairs and made significant progress with house training. He enjoys toys, including rope bones and plush stuffies, and benefits from ongoing training and regular car rides to build confidence.
