Raquel is an eleven-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix who came to us from a difficult hoarding situation. While she was provided with food and shelter, she missed out on crucial early socialization. Raquel is a big girl with an even bigger heart. She is incredibly sweet but still a little unsure of the world. She longs to be close and to trust, and she is clearly trying her best to learn. New experiences can be a bit overwhelming for her at first, so she needs a little time and gentle encouragement to settle in and feel secure.
The good news is that Raquel is not stuck in her shyness. She is making steady progress every day and is well past the shut-down stage. While she may not be as confident as some of the other dogs from her situation, she is gaining ground rapidly. With the right guidance and a nurturing environment, she is sure to continue blossoming into the wonderful companion we know she can be.
Because Raquel did not grow up in a typical home environment, she is still learning about indoor living, leash walking, and navigating everyday household activities. She isn't difficult, just inexperienced and a bit uncertain. Patience, a consistent routine, and gentle guidance will be incredibly beneficial for her journey.
Ideal Home
Raquel would thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog who can serve as a role model. Having another dog to follow and learn from will significantly help her build her own confidence. She will be a large dog, likely well over 100 pounds when fully grown, so her new home must be prepared for her size. A securely fenced yard is a must. Raquel is good with other dogs and is fine with cats. Due to her tendency to startle easily and her ongoing journey to build confidence, we are recommending a home with children over the age of 10.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned, but Raquel is a young, growing dog.
Training & Support
Raquel is still learning about indoor living, leash walking, and general household routines. She needs patience, routine, and consistency. A confident, friendly resident dog would be a great asset to her learning process.
