Kano is a handsome 8-year-old fawn boy who found himself looking for a new home after his owner passed away. His current family loves him dearly but is unable to keep him due to a conflict with another male dog in the home. Kano is described as active, protective, playful, affectionate, and obedient. He's house-trained, but has been marking in the kitchen, possibly due to the stress of the other male dog. While he doesn't get along with the male dog, he is friendly and playful with the female boxer in the home, so a proper meet and greet is essential. Kano is reported to be kid-friendly, but can be a bit boisterous during play and might accidentally knock over small children. He's comfortable around his owner's nieces and nephews, ages 4-16. His history with cats is unknown. Kano enjoys sleeping in his bed, on the couch, or even with his humans at night. He's generally well-behaved when left alone, as long as the trash is kept out of reach. He doesn't try to jump fences but has a curious digging habit. Kano is fearful of fireworks and loud noises, but absolutely loves car rides, tennis balls, bouncy balls, treats, ear rubs, and getting attention!
Ideal Home
Kano would thrive in a home that understands his playful nature and can provide him with proper exercise and mental stimulation. A home without another intact male dog would be ideal. Due to his boisterous play style, a home with older children who can handle his enthusiasm would be best. A securely fenced yard is recommended due to his digging curiosity.
Ongoing Health
Kano has two small bumps on his back and a large lump on his foot. These do not appear to cause him any pain or difficulty with movement.
Training & Support
Kano is house-trained. His marking behavior may be stress-related and could improve in a new, stable environment. Continued positive reinforcement and clear boundaries will help him adjust. Ensure trash cans are secured when he is left alone.
