Maisie is a sweet, sensitive soul who came to us from a neglectful situation. While we don't know everything she went through, it's clear she was taught that people can be scary. Even after a year in loving foster homes, she still flinches at sudden movements and can seem unsure. However, give her a tasty treat, and her worries melt away! She's full of endearing contradictions, like the time she confidently shared a sandwich right from your mouth. On walks, she starts out a bit worried but soon gets lost in interesting scents. Her kennel is her safe haven, a place she retreats to when things feel overwhelming, but she often ventures back out once she feels secure. Maisie thrives in quiet, low-stimulation environments and really blossoms in the evenings when things settle down, often seeking out affection.
Ideal Home
Maisie would be happiest in a home with other dogs, as she gains so much confidence from canine companions. She is wonderful with respectful and calm children and would also do great with cats. She needs a patient adopter who understands she won't be an instant best friend, but will slowly learn to trust and love them.
Ongoing Health
Maisie is a sensitive girl, and sometimes when she's feeling overwhelmed or scared, she may have small accidents. This is her way of communicating fear and not a reflection of her potty training. As she builds trust and confidence, these moments become fewer and farther between. Her adoption fee covers her vaccines, spay, and microchip.
Training & Support
Maisie needs gentle handling, patience, and reassurance to build her confidence. She doesn't need to be "fixed," but rather wants a heart patient enough to wait while hers learns to trust.
