Charlie is a sweet, energetic Black Mouth Cur/Lab mix who weighs about 85-90 pounds and is approximately 1½ years old. He was left at a shelter and was sadly on the euthanasia list due to lack of space, but thankfully he was given a second chance and is now ready to find his forever home. This fun-loving boy absolutely loves playing ball and will happily chase and return any ball for another throw, with tennis balls being his favorite for a game of keep-away! Charlie rides well in the car and does not struggle with anxiety. He is a very smart boy and already knows several commands, including heel, sit, come, stay, off (no jumping), and nice/gentle when taking treats. He is still working on "down."
Ideal Home
Charlie would do best in a home with teenage children or adults, as he may accidentally knock over small kids in his excitement. He would thrive with an active single person, couple, or family who enjoys outdoor adventures and would make an excellent hiking or running partner. He prefers female dogs over males. His high energy level may be a bit much for a feline companion, so he has not been cat tested. This boy should not be tied out or use an electric fence.
Ongoing Health
Charlie is up to date on vaccinations and is heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Charlie is crate trained and fully potty trained. He is a very smart boy and already knows several commands, including heel, sit, come, stay, off (no jumping), and nice/gentle when taking treats. He is still working on "down." With his intelligence and eagerness to learn, he could easily excel in advanced training, agility, or even protection work.
