Meet Laurel! This sweet 2-year-old Collie and Chihuahua mix is a true survivor with a heart full of love to give. Weighing in at a perfect 20 pounds, Laurel is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She's also great with other dogs, cats, kids, and all humans, making her a wonderful addition to many families. Laurel was rescued from a difficult hoarding situation and bravely battled pneumonia and distemper. While she has a constant head tremor as a result of her distemper, it doesn't slow her down and doesn't require any medication. She's a resilient pup who is slowly and bravely learning that the world is a wonderful place.
Ideal Home
Laurel would thrive in a calm and loving home where she can continue to gain confidence at her own pace. She's still working on getting comfortable with crowds and strangers, especially men she doesn't know. While she may need to be picked up if things get too busy, and can be a bit vocal from the car, her foster family is helping her acclimate to new experiences. She's a homebody who enjoys familiar routines but is also brave enough to explore with support.
Ongoing Health
Laurel is a distemper survivor and experiences a constant head tremor. This is a lifelong condition that does not require medication at this time and doesn't affect her quality of life.
Training & Support
Laurel is a pee pad pro and is working on her outside potty training. She expresses her happiness with enthusiastic "love jumps" and has become quite independent, handling up to 5 hours of solo time like a champ. She needs a patient and consistent adopter who understands that building her full trust may take time, given her past experiences.
