Libby

Libby is one of those dogs who makes you earn his trust — but once you do, you’ll have a loyal, goofy, food-loving best friend for life. Libby came to us in 2020 from Maricopa County Animal Control on the very day he was scheduled for euthanasia. His past before that is unknown, but it’s clear life taught him to be cautious of the world around him. Because of that, Libby can be fearful of strangers (especially men), reactive to bicycles, skateboards, scooters, motorcycles, and other fast-moving stimuli, and prone to redirection when startled or overwhelmed. And yes — Libby is a tripod! He underwent a rear leg amputation years ago and gets around beautifully. It doesn’t slow him down one bit. Libby has also done extremely well in structured boarding environments and was even used as a “greeter dog” to help assess the reactivity of incoming dogs due to his stable dog-to-dog communication skills.

Ideal Home

Libby requires an experienced handler, a calm, structured environment, and someone who understands fearful dogs and respects boundaries. He is not a dog for children or chaotic households.

Ongoing Health

Libby is a tripod, having undergone a rear leg amputation years ago. This does not slow him down.

Training & Support

Libby requires continued behavior work and management. The best way to Libby’s heart is through treats, patience, walks, and routine.
