Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother and siblings from the woods in a rural dumping area outside of Houston. Loki is the brave and bold ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore something new. He's an expert climber and loves to play keep-away with his toys. He is potty trained and has been crate-trained, though not for extended periods. Loki is friendly with people and other dogs, and he enjoys greeting everyone he meets. He can be a little hesitant with new experiences but quickly overcomes it. He absolutely loves food and will always make his way to the front of the line! After a day of play, Loki transforms into a snuggly lap buddy.
Ideal Home
Loki would thrive in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice to help him mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Loki. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, supervised daycare, regular playdates, and other safe, positive experiences. Because Loki is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. He has not yet been tested with cats.
Ongoing Health
No specific ongoing health conditions were mentioned.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained and has some crate training. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Continued socialization and reinforcement of good manners are important for his development.
