Grable is a 9-year-old sweet and gentle soul who came to us in April 2025 after her owner needed help rehoming several dogs. She had lived her whole life on a property in Ramona and had never been exposed to the outside world or many humans. Grable was understandably scared when she first arrived, but with time and patience, she has learned to trust her caregivers and now enjoys being petted, brushed, and spending time with other dogs. She has made incredible progress and is now living with a wonderful foster family to continue her journey in a supportive home. Grable has started to open up to her foster parents, even coming to their bed in the morning to say hello!
Ideal Home
Grable would thrive in a home with another calm and confident dog who can help her feel more secure. While she hasn't reacted to the resident cat swatting at her, a home without easily startled cats might be best. She is a flight risk, so a securely fenced yard and careful attention when opening doors to unsecured areas are a must. She would likely not enjoy long walks as she is still nervous about the outside world.
Ongoing Health
Grable has no known health conditions and has not undergone any procedures.
Training & Support
Grable is still getting used to new situations and people. She is a great eater but prefers not to be watched while she eats. She is crated when left alone and usually settles down on her bed with a chew toy. She has a history of shredding a towel once when left alone, but this is not typical. Leaving her with a safe chew can help her associate alone time with positive experiences.
