Lucy and Toby are two 9-year-old dachshund mix companions whose world was turned upside down when their beloved owner entered hospice care. Through no fault of their own, they found themselves in need of a new beginning—and they’re hoping to find a family willing to open their heart to both of them.
Lucy is a long-haired dachshund with a big personality to match her fluffy coat. She currently weighs about 32 pounds and should be closer to 20, so she’s starting her journey toward a healthier lifestyle. She absolutely adores people and will happily become your shadow from day one. Lucy is incredibly social, affectionate, and always ready to climb into your lap for snuggles. She’s the definition of a best friend and will thrive in a home ready to help her stay active with regular walks and lots of love.
Toby, a 19-pound dachshund mix, is a bit more reserved—but just as special. He can be shy at first and prefers a gentle, patient approach (no rushing into his personal space, please). Once he feels safe, though, his sweet and soulful personality shines through. Toby loves curling up in your lap and soaking in affection from his trusted people. He forms deep bonds and looks to Lucy for comfort, making their connection truly heartwarming.
Together, they are the perfect balance—Lucy the social butterfly, Toby the quiet observer—and they rely on each other for reassurance and companionship.
Ideal Home
Lucy and Toby are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Toby would likely be happiest with just Lucy as his companion, though he is cat-friendly and tends to ignore them.
Ongoing Health
Both Lucy and Toby are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccines. They will come with a health certificate. Lucy is working towards a healthier lifestyle and needs a home that will help keep her active with regular walks.
Training & Support
Both Lucy and Toby are house trained and crate trained, and they walk well on leash. Toby can be shy at first and prefers a gentle, patient approach.
