Candy is a charming Shih Tzu and Bichon mix, born on November 24, 2018, who is looking for a special kind of home. After spending her first six years in a breeding environment, she's ready for a life filled with love and security. Candy absolutely adores her canine companions and thrives in the company of other dogs, happily spending time with her foster siblings. She's also a clever girl who knows to head to her crate for bedtime, especially when enticed with a tasty treat! She loves being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air, so why not make it extra special with a bit of food? Candy travels well in her carrier and can be a bit squeaky with excitement when she sees you, especially upon your return home. She would do best in a single-family home with a securely fenced yard, where she has the freedom to express her joy without worry. For her safety and adjustment, she needs to be supervised when in her new home, just as she is in her foster home. She's met strangers at events and has been a friendly, lick-happy girl. While she hasn't lived with children or cats, she's a tomboy at heart who doesn't mind a bit of rain or mud as long as she's exploring the outdoors with a doggy friend. Because she is short and low to the ground, her hair is kept shorter.
Ideal Home
Candy needs a home experienced with former breeding dogs. She requires a home with another dog for companionship and a securely fenced yard (no invisible fences). She would not be suited for an apartment, duplex, or condo. She is not suited for a home with cats or children.
Ongoing Health
Candy is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She had a dental cleaning on June 19, 2025, and an annual exam on May 14, 2026. She is scheduled for another dental cleaning on June 23, 2026. She is fine being groomed and bathed, with grooming done every 8 weeks.
Training & Support
Candy is not accustomed to being unsupervised and will need the same level of supervision during her adjustment period in a new home. She is afraid of leashes, and it seems being picked up reminds her of her past.
