Hi there! My name is Gretchen, and I'm a sweet, sassy, and smart 8-year-old girl looking for my forever family. I'm a native New Yorker who was adopted from the ASPCA as a puppy and lived with my beloved family until about a month ago when my parent became ill and could no longer care for me. It's been a bit of a whirlwind, and I'm still settling in, but my heart is full of love to give to my new humans!
I've spent some time in foster homes recently. I enjoyed my first foster situation where I had my foster mom's attention mostly to myself in a cozy studio apartment. In my second foster home, I lived with three people and while I love meeting new people, I do need a little time to warm up and decide if I can trust them. Once I do, I'm a big fan of belly rubs and cuddling on the couch!
I'm not a fan of other dogs and can be reactive. I'm willing to work on this with training, but it will require a dedicated human. For now, I think I'd be happiest in a home without any other canine companions.
I enjoy playing outside, even in the snow, and I like a good walk on leash. But at the end of the day, I'm a true homebody who loves nothing more than being cozy in an apartment with my favorite blankie and my humans. I'm also quite content to keep the couch warm while you're away!
I'm a bit confused about my current situation, as the only family I've ever known is no longer with me. I'm eager to build trust and confidence with a new family who will be loyal to me. In return, I promise to be the most faithful and loving family member you could ever ask for.
