Dagger is a 6.5-month-old spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing around 40 pounds. She's estimated to be a large dog when fully grown. Dagger was rescued from the woods with her mother and littermates, and after being born during a Texas freeze, she's now in a loving foster home in Houston, Texas, where she's had the chance to grow and thrive.
This sweet girl, named for a distinctive dagger-shaped marking on her neck, is a bundle of joy and affection. She still has plenty of puppy energy for playtime but is also developing into a wonderful, cuddly companion. Dagger is potty trained and is becoming a confident and affectionate dog. She's a bit of an athlete, enjoying leaps and climbs, and is a talented escape artist, so future families should be aware! But her favorite activity is curling up in her person's lap for love nibbles and cuddles. Dagger is curious, confident, and friendly with strangers, always with a wagging tail. She enjoys playing with other dogs and has been raised with her littermates and mother. She has done well around children and has not been tested with cats.
Ideal Home
Dagger thrives in a home where she can continue to learn and grow. Because she is a talented escape artist, her future family should be mindful of enclosures. A home with another friendly, well-mannered dog is strongly preferred to help mentor and guide her. If you don't currently have a dog, please have a plan for continued socialization, such as training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are also preferred to provide consistent interaction and care.
Ongoing Health
Dagger is a young, healthy puppy who is up-to-date on her vaccinations and spayed.
Training & Support
Dagger is an adolescent dog who is still learning about the world. She needs a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building her confidence, and continuing her socialization. Positive reinforcement, consistency, and ongoing leash practice will help her thrive. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for her development.
