Meet Axel Rose! This handsome 26lb Basenji/Terrier mix, born around April 5, 2024, is looking for a loyal sidekick with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Axel is the perfect size for adventures, cuddles, and everything in between. He loves other dogs of all sizes and enjoys making new canine friends wherever he goes. Axel has a unique way of introducing himself; he likes to talk and will happily let you know he'd love some attention. Once you walk over and say hello, his barks quickly turn into tail wags and affection. He simply wants to be noticed and loved. Axel is potty trained and does well inside the home. One of his favorite activities is relaxing on the couch while watching the world go by through the window. Don't let his laid-back side fool you, though; he also loves running zoomies in the backyard and stretching his legs outdoors. Axel's story began when he was discovered abandoned inside an empty apartment. Thankfully, a compassionate foster stepped up and gave him a second chance at life. Despite being left behind, Axel remains incredibly loving, trusting, and ready to find a family who will never leave him again.
Ideal Home
Axel is a friendly boy who loves other dogs of all sizes and enjoys making new canine friends. We don't yet know how Axel feels about cats, but he can be kitty-tested for interested adopters.

Axel is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Axel is still working on his leash manners and would benefit from a family willing to help him continue building confidence on walks. He is kennel and potty trained.

Transportation
Axel is located in Houston, Texas. Transport is included in the adoption fee, with pickup locations that may vary, including to nearby towns or states. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third-party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
