About Lola : The Tragic Story of a Mama Dog

At just 2 years old, this sweet lab mix girl, Lola, has already overcome so much, yet she remains one of the most gentle and loving dogs you could ever meet. Rescued from a high-kill shelter in Houston alongside her newborn puppies, she showed nothing but trust and kindness toward everyone around her, even while caring for her babies. Lola's babies were quickly taken from her, and she found herself at risk of euthanasia. However, her calm, loving nature and easygoing personality made her a staff favorite, and she was rescued.

Her foster family described her as "the best dog in the universe" – quiet, well-mannered, affectionate, and wonderfully easy to handle. Lola settles beautifully into home life and simply enjoys being near her people. She currently lives with another dog and young children and does wonderfully with both. While she was free-roaming with toddlers and a medium-sized dog in her foster home, Lola did not do well with very tiny animals. For the last two months, she has been living in a boarding facility where the staff adore her, considering her an extremely smart and obedient pup who needs that special person to change her world. Weighing around 45 pounds, Lola is the perfect medium-sized companion with a calm and gentle presence that would fit beautifully into almost any home, whether you're looking for a family dog, a loyal companion, or an easygoing best friend.

Ideal Home

Lola would do best in a home without very tiny animals. A fully fenced yard is a must, and electric or underground fences are not accepted.

Ongoing Health

Lola is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She is kept on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee includes all vetting, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high-quality nylon Martingale collar, and a harness.

Training & Support

Lola is described as smart and obedient. While she has lived successfully with young children and another dog, potential adopters should be mindful of her needs with very tiny animals.
