Kavik

Meet Kavik, a handsome 2-year-old, 50 lb. Chow Chow with a heart of gold! Kavik spent many months as a stray in Texas, bravely evading capture until he was finally trapped. During his time on the run, he endured being hit by a car and had negative interactions with other stray dogs. These experiences have left him a bit nervous when leaving his foster home, but he's a loyal and protective companion to his people, exhibiting classic Chow Chow traits like stubbornness and a wary nature towards strangers. When he's not resting, Kavik enjoys playtime with toys and his canine companions. He was briefly exposed to a cat and showed little interest.

Ideal Home

Kavik needs an experienced adopter who understands his breed and past experiences. He would thrive in an adult-only home and would love to have a confident dog friend to show him the ropes. A securely fenced-in yard is a must, as he is an extreme flight risk.

Ongoing Health

Kavik is neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Kavik is protective and wary of strangers, which is typical for his breed. He is also nervous when leaving his foster home. He has done well with the dogs in his foster home and would benefit from a confident canine role model.
