About Hera

Meet Hera — a beautiful, deeply loving 3-year-old, 47lb pittie lady whose favorite things include gentle belly rubs, long back scratches, and being close to her people. She will gaze lovingly into your eyes while you pet her — and if you stop too soon, she’ll happily remind you with a paw tap that she’s not done yet. She’s also an award-worthy sploot-er, enjoys carrying stuffies around to “show them off,” and will give kisses on request without overwhelming you when you’re not in the mood. Inside the home, Hera is calm, polite, and well-mannered. She’s fully potty and crate trained, sleeps well through the night, naps during the day, and doesn’t beg for food. She respects boundaries, waits to be invited onto furniture, and takes treats gently when calm. She’s smart and eager to learn, already knowing “sit,” “paw,” “come,” "lie down," and "leave it," and happily working on new tricks. She tolerates routine care beautifully — medications wrapped in cream cheese are happily gobbled and baths are no problem with treats or a lick mat to keep things fun. She happily eats twice a day, plus treats, and enjoys fruits like apples and pears as an extra-special snack.

Ideal Home

Hera needs an adult-only home (experienced teen-aged children at least). She also needs an experienced, confident handler who can manage her strength on leash, as she can become over-aroused in high-stimulation situations, which can cause strong leash pulling, jumping, or nipping (not from aggression, but from overwhelm). Gentle, predictable handling and respect for her boundaries are essential.

Ongoing Health

Hera had a rough start in life and is still healing and learning to navigate the outside world. With consistent training, structure, and medication, she has made significant progress and continues to become more confident and regulated. This support will need to be maintained and thoughtfully managed by her adopter(s). When being touched unexpectedly from behind, she can briefly flinch but quickly relaxes and happily enjoys affection once she realizes you’re being gentle.

Training & Support

Hera can become over-aroused in high-stimulation situations, which can cause strong leash pulling, jumping, or nipping (not from aggression, but from overwhelm). She may snap if pushed too far beyond her comfort zone (though she immediately feels bad and apologizes), so she needs adopters who are attentive, gentle, and committed to continuing her progress. She is smart and eager to learn, already knowing “sit,” “paw,” “come,” "lie down," and "leave it," and happily working on new tricks.
