Cottonball

Meet Cottonball! This sweet 6-month-old Maltese mix weighs just 8 pounds and has a coat as soft and fluffy as a cloud. Cottonball came to us from a breeder release and is still learning to trust that the world can be a safe and loving place. She is the more reserved of her siblings, preferring to watch the world from a safe distance. Cottonball is quite shy and a little fearful of human touch right now, but with patience and understanding, her sweet soul is sure to shine through.

Ideal Home

Cottonball needs a calm and patient home with a securely fenced yard where she can feel safe as she explores her new surroundings. She thrives with canine companionship and will need a confident, friendly dog in the home to help her learn to trust and build confidence by example.

Training & Support

Cottonball is currently very under-socialized and fearful of human touch. She will need an adopter who can provide her with a safe space to build confidence. This may involve starting her in a smaller, enclosed area in the home for the first week or so, where she can safely acclimate and potty. She will likely try to avoid being picked up and will be a flight risk initially, so taking her outside for potty breaks will not be safe for several weeks. Once she has bonded with you and trusts you, outdoor excursions will require a double leash setup with tightly secured collars and potentially a no-slip harness lead to ensure her safety. Food is a great motivator for Cottonball and helps her gain confidence.
