Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix, weighing approximately 25 lbs, with the most stunning blue eyes! She and her mom were found running on the highway, unsure of where to go. A kind person stopped to help, coaxing them into their car with food and patience. Dixie's mom, a spaniel mix, has already found her forever home, and while we don't know who Dixie's dad is, we don't expect her to get much bigger, as her mom was only 30 lbs full-grown. Dixie is kennel-trained and is quickly learning commands. She's a very smart girl who is eager to please and will surely master new skills with a little one-on-one attention. She absolutely loves other dogs and gets along wonderfully with both small and large pups. Dixie is currently in a temporary sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border.
Ideal Home
Dixie is still learning to trust humans and would do best in a home with patient, understanding, and gentle guardians. Having another dog in the home would be a huge asset in helping Dixie come out of her shell. If a canine companion isn't possible, regular playdates or doggy daycare would be beneficial.
Ongoing Health
Dixie has been spayed, is heartworm negative, and is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention. She has also been dewormed and will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian before transport.
Training & Support
Dixie is learning to trust humans and is also discovering the joy of toys! With consistent, gentle guidance, she will blossom into a confident and loving companion.
