China is an estimated 8-10 year old, 16 lb Miniature Poodle mix who wandered into her foster mom's neighborhood and captured her heart. Susana searched for China's family, but no one came forward. Seeing China's vulnerability on the streets, Susana knew she had to step in. Now, China is described as the "perfect companion for someone who wants a peaceful, quiet best friend." She's an easy roommate who rarely barks, isn't demanding, and doesn't create chaos. China loves napping in sunbeams, quietly keeping her person company, and has fully embraced indoor life. She isn't looking for adventure; she's looking for someone to share her golden years with.
Ideal Home
China would thrive with someone who enjoys slow mornings, quiet evenings, and the simple joy of having a loyal little companion nearby. She would not be happy in a busy, high-energy household. China is good with kids, as long as they are taught to respect her belongings and boundaries.
Ongoing Health
China has a few age-related medical conditions but is doing very well. She recently had a veterinary workup, including comprehensive bloodwork and infectious disease testing, which showed healthy liver and kidney function. She also had a dental cleaning where 11 painful teeth were removed due to advanced periodontal disease. China has dry eye, which is managed with lifelong eye drops, and she also has cataracts. She navigates her environment beautifully. Her veterinarian detected an abnormal heart sound, and she has an upcoming appointment with a veterinary cardiologist to determine if she has age-related valve disease. At this time, she is happy, comfortable, and showing no signs of heart failure.
Training & Support
China is not 100% housebroken yet, but with consistent training, most dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks. As a rescue, she will need some time to adjust to indoor living.
