Rio

Rio is a big, handsome boy with an even bigger heart! This 4.5-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix is calm and well-mannered indoors, but his happy place is definitely outside. He loves soaking up the fresh air and playing with his squeaky toys, which are his absolute favorite. He’s perfectly happy entertaining himself with them, and is a big fan of belly rubs and affection.

Ideal Home

Rio gets along well with other dogs and would likely enjoy their company. He’s also good with children! While he enjoys playing with his squeaky toys, Rio doesn’t like to share high-value items, so he’ll need some space from other dogs when his favorite toys are around.

Ongoing Health

Rio is on a journey toward a healthier weight, enjoying extra walks and playtime. He has a chronic lick granuloma on his rear right leg that appears to be behavioral and will likely require long-term management. He must wear a cone when unsupervised or overnight.

Training & Support

We’re currently working on Rio’s “selective hearing” when it’s time to come back inside; he can be a little stubborn if he’s having too much fun! He rides great in the car and jumps in without hesitation.
