About SBC - Blaze

Foster or forever home wanted, meet Blaze! The days leading up to the dreaded 4th of July holiday are dangerous for dogs that have been in overcrowded shelters for any length of time. Add to that, a dog that is limping and non-weight bearing on his right rear leg. Blaze came into the San Bernardino shelter as a stray on June 30th and was immediately at risk. As with many dogs these days, he didn't have a collar, tag or microchip and no one ever came looking for him. We knew he would not survive the holiday due to a high influx of dogs coming in, so we went to grab him. Blaze ended up having a buddy he came into the shelter with named Gunner. We never leave a dog behind if we know they entered the shelter with another. So, Gunner caught a ride to the vet too! When we were there to pick up Gunner and Blaze, the shelter staff told us about Anastasia. We knew if we left her, she wouldn't make it past the holiday. So, we made the decision to get her out of there so her medical could be addressed and get her into a loving home to live out her days. As happens in rescue often is, you go for one and leave with two or three. The shelter staff said Blaze is very sweet, friendly and a happy social dog. Blaze has been kenneled with other dogs during his stay and has been great with them all. Blaze's finder kept him for a day in an attempt to find his owners then surrendered him to the shelter.
