Elizabeth Taylor is a sweet 12-year-old, 13-pound poodle mix who has overcome a difficult past on a breeding farm. She's a gentle soul who is just beginning to blossom in her foster home, showing trust through tail wags and seeking out gentle pets. Liz enjoys cozy snuggles on the couch or by the fireplace, and her progress in her new environment is a joy to witness. She's a low-energy girl who appreciates her daily walks and the opportunity to explore the world through her nose. Liz is good with other dogs and cats and is very passive with food, toys, and attention. She enjoys her meals served with a bit of privacy to ensure she can eat without distraction. She's also house-trained and a smart girl when it comes to her needs. Liz takes her medication easily twice a day and is learning to enjoy each day to the fullest.
Ideal Home
A home with another, more confident dog to serve as a mentor would be ideal for Liz. She thrives on gentle companionship and needs a calm environment to continue building her trust. Families with children under the age of six are not a good fit for Liz.
Ongoing Health
Liz has congestive heart failure (Stage C) and a grade 5/6 left systolic heart murmur with an arrhythmia. She also has right-sided heart enlargement and some pulmonary edema. She is currently being treated with Pimobendan and Furosemide. This will be a hospice situation.
Training & Support
Liz is house-trained and a smart girl. She takes her medications easily with treats. Her foster mom notes that she's still building trust and learning to enjoy her new environment, but her progress is remarkable.
