Meet Ronin, an 11.5-year-old senior Shiba Inu with a heart full of love and a desire for a peaceful retirement. Ronin still enjoys his walks, playtime, and learning new things, especially when delicious treats are involved. He's an independent soul, like many Shibas, and while he's not a constant cuddler, he cherishes being near his people, happily settling by your side whether you're working or relaxing. Ronin is a food-motivated marvel, excelling in training, knowing several basic commands, walking beautifully on a leash, and boasting excellent house manners.
Ideal Home
Ronin would thrive in an adult-only home with no other pets or small children. A securely fenced yard would be a bonus, though he is also a proficient leash walker.
Ongoing Health
Ronin is generally in good health for his age. He receives Cytopoint injections as needed for seasonal allergies and has a few benign fatty lipomas that have been examined by his veterinarian. Due to age and an old leg injury, he moves a little slower but still enjoys his daily life. He is currently on a weight-management diet. Ronin can experience some anxiety during veterinary visits and nail trims, so his current family uses medication and low-stress grooming techniques to ensure his comfort.
Training & Support
Ronin is house-trained, leash-trained, and knows basic commands. He is very food motivated, which makes training enjoyable. He has shown a prey drive and can exhibit resource guarding around food and occasionally toys with other dogs.
