Meet Porter!

Porter is a stunning, three-year-old retriever/hound mix who was born at our shelter and adopted as a puppy. He was returned to us after nearly three years because we believe he grew larger than his family anticipated and their lives became too busy. It appears Porter spent a lot of time in a crate, which made him a little restless. We're so glad he's back with us, where he's thriving with plenty of attention, a big yard, and all the love and care we can provide. Porter is a medium to large dog, solidly built, and loves to give affectionate body hugs, soaking in human contact. He's friendly, affectionate, sweet, and calm. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and happily greets them in the yard. Porter is house-trained and crate-trained, travels well in a car, and walks nicely on a leash. He's ready for adventures, cozy couch snuggles, or relaxing naps on the porch. Porter is truly a gold standard companion who deserves a family to be a part of. After some time feeling overlooked, he longs to belong and be cherished.

Training & Support

Porter is house-trained and crate-trained. He walks well on a leash and travels well in a car. He has wonderful manners and is eager to please.

Transporation

Porter is located at Charles Smithgall Humane Society. Adopters must come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship or transport animals.
