Ernie is a neutered, 8-year-old male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix, weighing around 63lbs. He was found as a stray and thankfully rescued by his foster mom. Despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie is a true gem of a dog who was clearly loved at one time. He is HW- and never meets a stranger, making him a wonderful companion. Ernie is a goofy older gentleman who is very chill but also gets excited for a walk or play date. He gets along great with every human and animal he's met, wagging his tail and hoping to make new friends. He's a gentle playmate, always wanting to be included and going with the flow. He's been great with dogs of all sizes and even lets his smaller foster sibling boss him around. Ernie seems interested in cats but not in an aggressive way, so he might be fine with feline friends who don't mind a friendly hello. While he hasn't been around children, he is extremely gentle, and his foster believes he'd enjoy a home with them as long as they understand he's a big boy. Ernie is house-trained and walks beautifully on a leash. He does not enjoy crates and will try to escape. Thankfully, he is not destructive when left unsupervised. If he knows you are home while he is in the crate, he may whine or howl for a few minutes, but he calms down with a treat or verbal commands. Ernie is a social guy who enjoys spending time with his humans, following you from room to room, and his favorite spot is right next to you! His foster mom feels Ernie would be a great fit anywhere, whether with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner. He may be a senior, but Ernie has a lot of love left to give and just wants to be part of his very own pack!
