Sophia is an 11-month-old, 10 lb sweetheart who was found all alone on the streets of Chapala as a tiny 3-month-old puppy. She was discovered covered in fleas and filth, with no sign of her mother or littermates. It's likely she was abandoned, and this difficult beginning left her a little guarded at first. She wasn't overly affectionate initially, seeming to weigh whether people were worth the trouble. However, it didn't take long for Sophia to realize that people are worth it! She blossomed in her foster home, gaining weight, confidence, and a serious love for playing fetch. She has a high toy drive and enjoys playing with other dogs for hours. When it's time to wind down, Sophia loves to lounge in a hammock, cuddle up for naps, and enjoys car rides with her nose pressed to the window. She loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and her adorable underbite makes it impossible to resist her charms.
Ideal Home
Sophia would do well in a home that can match her energy and also enjoys quiet downtime. She is good with other dogs, cats, and children who understand how to respect a dog's space and belongings. Given her confident and independent nature, she would also be happy as an only pet.
Ongoing Health
Sophia has received comprehensive medical care, including spay/neuter surgery, core vaccinations (DHLPPi, Rabies, Bordetella), flea/tick/heartworm treatment, deworming, blood work, and health tests (CBC, blood parasite tests, parvo/giardia/coronavirus test). She is also microchipped.
Training & Support
Sophia is not yet 100% housebroken, and as a rescue who lived outdoors, she will need some time and consistent training to adjust. Most dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks.
