Copper is an estimated 4-year-old, 80 lb neutered male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. He was originally picked up as a stray in Georgia and joined us via Project Freedom Ride. Copper is a fun-loving boy with a zest for life and a heart that's just waiting to be shared. He is happy to hang out on the couch but he's always ready for an adventure, a game of fetch, or any opportunity to spend time with his people. A little exercise goes a long way with Copper, and once he's had a chance to burn off some energy, he's happy to settle in and relax. One of Copper's favorite things in the world is chasing tennis balls; he approaches every game with such joy and determination that it's hard not to smile. Copper can be a little cautious when meeting new people, preferring to take a moment to assess the situation. Thankfully, the path to his heart is fairly straightforward—patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats tend to work wonders. Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate and loving personality shines through, and he quickly becomes a devoted companion. He currently shares his home peacefully with other dogs and enjoys being part of the pack, though he appreciates slow and thoughtful introductions. On walks, Copper is a pleasure to handle, leading the way and exploring his surroundings without pulling on the leash. With a confident handler providing guidance, he remains calm around other dogs and focuses on enjoying the outing.
Ideal Home
Copper is looking for a family that will continue helping him build confidence while embracing his playful spirit and affectionate nature. He would do best in a single-family dwelling with a securely fenced yard. He cannot live with cats or small animals. Large breed experience and Doberman experience are a big plus!
Ongoing Health
Copper's adoption fee includes his spay/neuter, current rabies, DAPPV, and Bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test.
Training & Support
Copper is still working on reliably bringing the ball back and dropping it during fetch, but he approaches every game with joy and determination. He can be cautious when meeting new people, but patience, kindness, and treats work wonders.
