Meet Django!
This bright, two-year-old mixed breed is a thoughtful and curious companion. At about 50 pounds, this medium-sized boy is smart and active, building deep bonds with his people and celebrating their return home with joy! Django thrives on connection and purpose. He loves to cuddle and lean in for affection, but his sweet side truly shines once he feels comfortable and safe. Adventure is equally important to him; he adores toys and games of fetch, and enjoys walks, runs, and even swimming. He proudly carries sticks or balls during walks, as if it's his special job! Django's intelligence makes him a keen learner, and he already knows many cues like sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, and no bark. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity in certain situations, feeling uncertain around unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or dogs encountered on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support from an experienced pet parent. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space, and there was one minor nip incident involving an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence!
